Hog Roast SleafordThe wonderful thing about being an event caterer is that our job takes us out to all kinds of incredible and unique places to cook. We’ve been to castles, hillside resorts, even boated across lakes to small islands. One of the most awe inspiring to be at has to be any time we come out to the RAF hangars at RAF Cranwell.

Going on a few years now, the Hog Roast Cranwell team have had the privilege of catering at a couple RAF bases. Every time it is such an experience for the whole team. We’re cooking out on air strips, getting close up time with some of the RAF’s best and oldest jets, and serving for the brilliant service men and women of the national air force. There are few privileges greater.

A few weeks ago the Hog Roast Cranwell team were delighted to receive an invite from the RAF Cranwell team once more. The call was for a staff event for everyone at the Cranwell hangars. That included about 110 people to cater for, so of course our first thought was to go with the signature Hog Roast Cranwell hog roast. A dish that alone could feed up to 100 guests, it’s a winner for any occasion. Bringing style, spectacle, and great tastes, it’s a dish that could live up to the standards of our royal air force. Catering manager Rob and the Hog Roast Cranwell team arrived to Hangar 89 early in the morning, ready to go with our roast, sage and onion stuffing, crispy crackling, grilled veg and halloumi skewers, BBQ pulled jackfruit, seasonal leafy greens, red cabbage coleslaw, and plenty of gluten-free rolls for an 11am serving time.

The RAF staff were wonderful to cater for. A real pleasure to chat with and very polite during service. Of course, they made sure to let us know just how much they enjoyed their hog roast rolls, too, with a few coming back for seconds while the roast still lasted.
