Hog Roast Skegness recently catered an event at Cherry Lea Holiday Park & Lake, for their Bank Holiday Bash. Cherry Lea is a quiet, family-owned holiday park that’s located in the Lincolnshire countryside, in-between Skegness and Burgh Le Marsh, and it has its own fishing lake that’s well-stocked. For this event, Michelle booked us and asked us to feed 70 guests with both our highly popular Menu 1 of pigs in buns, as well as veggie skewers.
The pigs in buns themselves are what we call hog roast rolls, and to make them, we prepare a hog at your venue, so it’s as fresh as can be, by scoring, adding water and salt and then we keep an eye on it as it sizzles away for hours and hours. Once rested, we carve into it, piling trays with bits of crunchy crackling and slivers of tender, juicy meat, ready to fill fresh bread rolls and wraps, and then we top with our homemade duo of apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing and let your guests add their own condiments as well if preferred. Our pigs in buns are renowned, and we’re sure your mouth is watering just reading about them here already!
By also serving veggie skewers, we would also be ensuring that vegetarian guests would be catered at this event, or even non-vegetarian guests who didn’t fancy pigs in buns. We offer all kinds of options for guests on special diets, so when you book Hog Roast Skegness, you can be sure that everyone gets to eat our food and not just the majority of guests.
Our Hog Roast Skegness team arrived at Cherry Lea hours before the serving time of 5pm and got on with setting up our equipment and cooking the hog. While the weather was miserable, the large marquee ensured the chilly, damp weather didn’t spoil the fun, and it soon filled up with owners and their guests. There was already some buffet food there, like sandwiches and snacks, as well as plenty of drinks to go around, but after a few short hours, there was also a centrepiece hog roast ready to be carved and feasted on and some lovely grilled veggie skewers, ready to be devoured too.
